Dr. Ann Molineux, who passed away in February 2018, was the curator and collections manager of invertebrate and rock collections at the University of Texas at Austin. Despite initially finding interest in geology, geomorphology, and maps as she attended the University of Cambridge for her undergraduate studies, her enthusiasm for paleontology quickly grew during her earliest years living in the United States. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin, where she focused her study on calcified demosponges in the Caribbean. She was especially captivated by sponges and rudist bivalves.
An active paleontologist until her death, she spent her time in the field and at a desk studying specimens in the collections. She was enthusiastic about digitizing paleontological specimens, making them more available for research, exhibit, and education.
